Sports, weekends

Today was one of those days where Mike and I are up before sunrise preparing breakfast and game planning for the full day of activities that awaits us. Sometimes, I wonder why we do this to ourselves. I just want to sleep, and not get up to an alarm or stick to a schedule.

Why:

Child 2 completed their third triathlon finishing in 13th place with a time of 19:56 this morning. Getting better each year. As much as I would like her to “win”. Her attitude is; it’s not always about finishing the race first is what defines me at the winner, its finishing the race period. Then it was off to an afternoon soccer game in the miserable Texas heat. She was tired, but yet didn't give up.

Child 1 played hard in first game of the season. He communicated well with his teammates and is finally becoming more aggressive and using that massive body of his in the game he absolutely loves. Scored 8 points, plus made 2 free throws.

Watching your two introverted offspring's determination makes it all worth it.

Before Mike and I know it, they will be out of the house with their own responsibilities.

Way to go Maddie-Reece & MJ! We love you kiddos to the moon and back.

Today, 13 years ago I said "I do"

It has been nothing short of amazing! Marriage is work, but when two people work together things seem to workout. We are FAR from perfect, but we make it work.

"Our anniversary marks 365 more days you have made me laugh, cry, appreciate you, learn, grow, fought and be oh so glad we're together! I'm so lucky to have you and your love. Thanks for putting up with me for 13 years. Yours is still my favorite face. Love you to the moon back. Happy anniversary Michael John"

I wouldn't want to go through this crazy journey we call life without you, Mike! I will love you a million more.

Better late than never

We were able to host our "end of the school year" party today! The last day of school (June 02) was a bust due to rain, and more rain, and more rain. Houston has seen its fair share of rain and storms recently. These rain and storm systems have lead to serve flooding in towns displacing homeowners and even deaths.  It's very sad!

The kids devoured the pizza, juice boxes, water, fruit, chips and cupcakes. And...the inflatable slip-N-slide was a huge hit with the 14+ kiddos too. All in all, the party went well. No injuries! Lots of laughs and memories made. WIN!!

Summer

Summer just isn't summer without a container (or two or three) of flowers. This morning after dropping M.R off at basketball camp, I some how diverted to ACE Hardware and not straight HOME. I just wanted to see what they had for annuals! Everything was picked over to be honest, but time was not on my side, as my morning "to do" list had to get checked off ASAP. I did managed to find a few okay looking flowers though that needed a home. If all goes well this brown thumb will become a green one. Just maybe my better half and I will get a fall garden planted too.

Mom-Mom arrived safely from the Hook, and will be here to help us celebrate M. R's 8th birthday!

The kiddos, well all of us get spoiled while mom (mom-mom) visits. The kids have already sweet talked their way to getting new video games. Along with a trip to their our favorite frozen yogurt place; U-Swirl, and dinner at Tin Roof BBQ this evening.

and the big kids got a "prize" too! A Coleman Road Trip Propane Portable Grill LXE. I can not wait to use it this weekend camping at Yogi Bear Jellystone Park.

The Mr. can even make his famous weekend breakfast with the swap top cast iron griddle!

It's CrAzY, how you stumble upon things YEARS later. My long lost blog! Things are constantly changing and forever busy at the Moore's. But for one we are still a family, not divorced, and living life everyday.
